Footsteps

Footsteps

Footsteps slowly creaked on every step of the stairs. The bedroom door handle turned slowly after Burger fell through the stairs when he was trying to get a midnight snack, when he quietly opened the door Mr Burrito and Mrs Taco were standing outside of the door and Mrs Taco telling off Burger when suddenly Burger ate Mr Burrito and Mrs taco.

Descriptive Writing

My sister is a mediumly tall person and she has a rounded nose like a turtle's shell. Her ears are mostly hidden behind her hair, her eyes are brown like chocolate and her body is mostly the same as mine, so it is a bit skinny but not too skinny because that would be weird. She has long and skinny legs like big sticks, her face is serious looking even when she is happy, her arms are the same as her legs but higher up her body and her hair is goldy-brown. Her clothes are a chameleon because they are always changing.

Maths Home Learning V2 7

 What time is it now

What time will it be in 1000 seconds

10:13

1min = 60s
60s x 10 = 600s
60s x 2 =120s x 3 = 360s

600s + 360s = 960s + 40s = 1000s + 10:13

Maths Home Learning V2 6

It's 7km from Tim's house to where his grandma lives.
It's uphill on the way, so he can only travel at 14 kph but he can do 21 kph on the way back.
Tim leaves his house at 6pm.
How long can he stop a Grandma's house if wants to be home to watch his favourite TV at 7pm?

14 kph ÷ 2 = 7km
1h ÷ 2 = 30mins

21 kph ÷ 3 = 7
1h ÷ 3 = 20mins

30mins + 20mins = 50mins
1h - 50mins = 10mins

Tim can stay at Grandma's House for 10 mins until he has to go home.

Maths Home Learning V2 5

In some parking buildings in the city, you can get 15 minutes of parking for 50c.
Nigel put $3.50 into the meter at 3:15pm.
At what time did the parking meter expire?

$3.50 to 350c
350c ÷ 50c = 7 x 15mins = 105mins

105mins to 1h 45mins
1h 45mins + 3:15pm = 5:00pm

Chameleons have really long tongues, which they rapidly extend to catch their pray.

Their tongues can move at about 26 body lengths per second!!!
If a chameleons body length is 50cm,
how fast does that tongue move in one second?

50cm + 50cm = 1m x 2 =2m x2 = 4m x 2 = 8m + 50cm = 8.5m + 50cm = 9m + 1m = 10m
1m x 6 = 6m + 10m = 13m

Asteroid Settlement 3D Diagram

This is a diagram of what Asteroidia (A city in the asteroid belt. And also Asteroidia is spelled wrong) it would look like if I ever did actually build it. I made this on a website called Vectary.

It supports human life with its water recycling system and its farms and as you can probably tell it's for the asteroid belt.

Aunty has made pies for a bake sale. She wants to find the weight of the pies.

She has a problem; she only has one 200g weight and one 125g weight.

She found that the scales balanced with both weights and a quarter of a pie

125g+200g=325g
325x4=1300

Quick Writes

This tiny mouse looks shocked and surprised, can you explain why?

The mouse was making lunch and he forgot to get some cheese, so he went to get some and when he came back the rest of his lunch was gone!!

Would you rather be the star actor/ actress in a movie or the director? Why?

I would rather be the director because I might be able to choose what happens.

What do you think  is on the other side of this door?

I think there is a warm bed and a toasty fire with an old man sitting in a rocking chair with a banjo.

What would it be like to climb to the very top of Mt Everest(The tallest mountain in the world)

It would be very cold and exciting and then when you get to the top there would probably be nothing there.

A Brief History Of Aotearoa

A Brief History Of Aotearoa

There are alot of important moments in our New Zealand Aotearoa history, such as; Early Polynesian migration, The Treaty of Waitangi and Early European settlement.

The Polynesians discovered Aotearoa in around 1300. They wondered where the birds were going and they followed them. The Polynesians used clouds and other tools like the stars, moon, sun and ocean currents to navigate. Aotearoa was one of the last countries to be discovered because it was at the bottom of the world. Kupe’s wife first yelled “He ao, he ao tea roa!” when she saw our land.

The Treaty was written by William Hobsen and translated by Henry Williams. The Treaty was signed on february 6th 1840. There are nine copies of The Treaty. The English and Maori versions say different things. Hone Heke was the first chief to sign.

Europeans started settling in about 1850. The boat trip would’ve taken six weeks. Some Europeans came for gold and farming. The boat was very rough, lots of people died. Some people like domestic servants got paid to come.

These are important moments in our New Zealand Aotearoa history, they have helped to shape who we are today.

1861 Early European Settlement Letter

Date: June 23rd 1861                                                        Address: 10 Stilton Street,

                                                                                                                          London,

                                                                                                                          England

Dear Uncle Richard

Life on the ship was horrible. We had to eat soup, and I hate soup! Our beds were made of straw, which meant the rats and mice right under you in your sleep.

When we arrived, we had to climb a big hill, it was so big that it took two days to get over.

When we found a spot to live, we built our house. The girls did the washing, and me and the rest of the boys did the hunting.

Love Elliot
